Violet wood handle

On the call Kingwood in English which means King's wood. In the 17th century, it was reserved for nobles and aristocracy, hence its name.

It belongs to the Fabaceae family and is close to rosewood species. It is used in the manufacture of veneer for furniture, marquetry, turning, inlaying and violin making. It has a purplish tint when fresh which changes to brown over time (a phenomenon due to oxidation colored tannins), and streaked with black.
